Dear AT--

How can I too make with significant ladies?

Thanks,

First you must realize that the ladies don't care for musicians.

Have you considered MATHEMATICS? Significant womens--and by this I mean achetypal womens of NOTE! (not scruba-types)--have warm love of digits and figures. Lay out some jive in this manner:

You: Woman, have I mentioned yet this differential equation to you?
Woman: No. Please, tell me more.

You: Euler's Equation is most beautiful like you are. Please, I have a car.

The humble little fops of Audubon Park have an upcoming show. Next week--Tuesday the 8th--we will be playing at the Local 506 with Rogue Wave and Two Gallants.

The show starts at 9PM. This a a FOR REAL show time as the bands are real bands on lable that have paperwork and what not when they tour. We may/probably will be first so don't show up late--looking all cool in your new velour shirt with the honeys and the ladies--and miss us and say, "Dude, you started early. I would have come early if I had thought you were serving seriousness about starting at 9 of the clock." I know it is a lie because the honeys and the ladies don't even get off work at the Waffle House in Graham until 9pm and you still have to drive back--assuming they have done their facial cleaning and lip preparing. So already I know if you come with ladies and honeys that you have no interest in us. Perhaps you are just coming to see the popular band that we are opening up for on a Tuesday night. Have you thought of those lies? I didn't think so.

Brush your teeth son. You have much to learn before you can fool AP

What it takes to get things done around here

After receiving 23 emails under one subject line (which actually had something to do with a totally different show than the one we are playing on 2/8) and not having anything answered, these are the drastic measures I was compelled to take.

Everyone nicely responded within 24 hours.
=============
Finn has mentioned a Monday practice more than one time (for example he did
it back when we thought 2/8 was Lou Barlow). I can't do that night, but I
can't do any night before 2/8 anyway so maybe the rest of you can get
together? And I would like it if we could do a moderately lengthy sound
check to sneak in practicing, which Finn can't do.

Proposed:
1. Those who are available Monday, practice Monday.
2. Those who are available early Tuesday, show up early Tuesday.
Presuming the Nahm is in both camps, natch.

Rules of reply:
0. You should actually weigh in on both points.
1. You may not post more crazy-ass url's until you have weighed in. Once
you have, you are free to post.
2. You may not comment on someone else's crazy-ass url once they have
weighed in if you yourself have not weighed in. You may not even
acknowledge it.
3. If you have weighed in and someone who has not weighed in posts a
crazy-ass url, you are obligated to reply "The link's not working, LOL.
BTW, what do you think about those proposals? TTFN. GILF."
4. If you have weighed in and someone else who has not weighed in posts a
REPLY to a crazy-ass url post, you are obligated to question whether that is
that big a deal, but then decide it is and resend this email with > <
framing this line. An example appears below:
> 4. If you have weighed in and someone else who has not weighed in posts a
REPLY to a crazy-ass url post, you are obligated to question whether that is
that big a deal, but then decide it is and resend this email with > <
framing this line. <
5. "Meta-comments," or commenting on the actual process, is SEVERELY
PROHIBITED. Well, frowned upon anyway. Is it as funny as you think?
Probably not, and then where would we be?

If we are unable to follow this protocol, two of you will not get your
sundaes, while the other two will have nuts on their sundaes but will be
allergic to nuts.

Word is bond,

Matt

DON'T FORGET THE CRUE

For 2005, the Hackeysac Crue has much love to offer.
Firstly, the following live appearance:
Jan 14, 2005
Nightlight (not an MC Nappropriate-approved venue, but a sufficient cause to warrant his appearance)
Chuck Johnson's birthday party, with Boyzone and whoever brings records to DJ (this means the people).

Secondly, espousing the benefits of alcohol, premarital sex (sometimes with your mom), and "The Best of Saturday Night Live: Will Ferrell".

In with the Newish

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!

This year brings "exciting" new possibilities and promises. Most of which won't come to fruition! Here's what 2005 holds in store for you. Let's stop the dancing and get to the goodies:

AUDUBON PARK:

ONE) Our next EP--The Bunny Is Not As Popular As Julius--will be released this month on Baptistic Prant Records. The tracks are as follows:

1) The Death of Baseball
2) Sunbathers
3) April in Kentucky
4) Pleasant Hill
5) ESP Terratory

The EP was recorded last year by Nick and features strings!

Second, AP will also present "THE BLUE ALBUM: For Adults Only--Not For Radio Airplay"--our first comedy album--and by comedy we mean excessive cursing and insults. It won't be sold in stores and will not be available at shows.

Third: we will be going into the studio to record a track for the next Compulation: Compulation II! If all works out and everything is cool it will be good.

FOUR!!! We are going to begin recording our first full length album. It is called "Winter Gala." We have lots of songs so it may have lots of songs on it. We will have to see.

Also we may go on a short tour or at least play in Raleigh.

THE NEIN

The Nein are finishing up their debut album for Sonic Unyon. Having hear bits of it I can say it is going to be pretty good--that is unless Andy Wallace gets brought in to mix it so it is more "accessable."

The record doesn't have a name I assume, so make some suggestions.

Also, I think they are doing a seven inch maybe. Maybe a member of the Nein needs to get in here and edit this so it actually is true.

HOTEL MOTEL

Judah told me that Hot-Mot are recording a third ep, a track for the Compulation also and are people who wear clothes. Word is also that Peter Gabriel is joining the band.

ERIE CHOIR

EC has procured new members, is also recording a track for the aforementioned Compulation II and hopefully will be signed to a major lable's boutique subisidiary soon. And a tour with the Counting Crows. ZAP!

TROPIC OF FOOD GENERALLY

Well, for a new year it seems like we should do something with the website, but we don't really have much control over it, and I like the way it looks so bite it! But maybe we will set it up so that everyone has their own log in name rather than everyone using the same one.

More as we make more up.

OH! CANADA!

In honor of the Nein heading up to Canada to rock our friendly neighbors to the north, I thought I'd prepare a list of things I like about Canada.

Some Things I Like About Canada:

Canada was the first place I ever got drunk. My family(aunts, uncles, cousins, etc…) would go to Quebec to skiing every year after Christmas when I was young. One New Year’s Eve my Aunt gave me a glass of champagne to share with my cousins. I went off and downed it, then returned for more. After a few of these trips I was good to go. I walked outside on the ice and it was splendid.

Canada is the first place I ordered a beer. When I was 16, we were back in Quebec again. The drinking age was 18. I went into this place and ordered a beer. They gave it to me. It would be five years before this happened again.

The Kids in the Hall. They started showing this on HBO in the late 80’s. It kicked Saturday Night Live’s ass. Genius.

Neil Young. Duh.

Canadian Football. There’s like 8 teams and two of them are called the Rough Riders and one is called the Argonauts. They kick on third down.

John Candy. Seemed to embody all that is good with humanity.

Steve Nash. Rush. Strange Brew. Margaret Trudeau. Loverboy. Lots of great stuff.

Thanks Canada.

REAL LOVE.

Let's get to the point quick. The Country Bears is one the greatest films of all time. The Country Bears has taught the band so much about our (human) selves. I now pay late tribute to the film (and it's message) by copying a recent thread of A.P. emails regarding a new local band with a whole lotta nerve. Read on!

-----------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------
Guys, there is a Chapel Hill band called
The Country Bears. I saw a flier that said
"country bears" only and a website (www.bearsalive.com)
and when I went to it I found out. I guess
we have to play with them.
-----------------------------------------
oh! when i was hanging up nein posters the other
night, i saw a couple flyers that just said "what
is country bears?" so i hung up the nein right next
to that shit, b/c it was fate.
------------------------------------------
I'm listening to their mp3s right now. Not bad.
Kind of yelly punk rock maybe a little like Les
Savy Fav. Not great, but not bad either.
------------------------------------------
I just listened to their MP3s. They should be
called the Dischord Records Bears. Get the Bong
back together?!!?
------------------------------------------
still, i'd be willing to sue them on behalf of
the real bears. you know ted won't stand for this,
and beary? what would happen if beary showed up
expecting to see zed zoober and co.? god damn if we
shouldn't have put together the country bears for
the great cover up and alienated everyone (including
ourselves) there. can you imagine the costumes?
damn it.
-------------------------------------------
You know, I bet Disney is going to be just fine suing
the shit out of them on their own. What is even
better is to show up at this bands show in costume
and sit in the back of the club watching, never speaking
to anyone and then leave angrily. Everytime they play.
-----------------------------------------
Duuuude!
------------------------------------------
Dude, we should get costumes together and show up at the
next Country Bears show and just stand at the back with
arms crossed. I call human/bear identity conflicted
child hero.
-----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------

[And on a less personal note, I had a heck of a dream last night. My
friend
S. Crouton and I were recording a tribute to the Red Hot Chili
Peppers' "Blood
Sugar Sex Magik," with Bono engineering. Bono was
irritated because The Edge
didn't show up for production on today's
"Breaking the Girl" and "Could Have
Lied." Only in dreams. How's
that for trad bloggin'?]
