(----) in Russia Vol. 30

You know you're in Russia in February when it is butt-ass cold. Nose-hair freezing cold. Could slip on the ice and break yr neck cold. Don't leave the house without gloves cold...

...river-is-butt-ass-frozen cold....

... so cold even posters of Dave Gahan have frozen snot....

...and you can't leave your windshield wipers on the glass...

...and you gotta park in a bank of black snow.

But the dogs don't care.

Band practice.

Hockey time. Dinamo Moscow slaughtered some poor other team. But the crowd was the real attraction.

These guys are the OMON, the Russian equivalent of the SWAT team. They break rocks on each other's stomachs with hammers and shit. For fun. They were there to keep order.

Bathroom air freshener scent. If we're talking "After Rain" in Moscow, we're talking a lot more toxic than anything that came out of someone's butt.

Park Kultury metro.

Butterfly.

This is an ad for an investment company. On the right it says, "Earn more than you would at the bank!" Usually, the left-hand side has an image of a jar full of dollars and euros, but some clever person put this sticker over it of Putin, some cronies and a U.S. booty.

Yeah, I bet that shit is "Euro Fresh".........

I just remembered this crazy dream I had last night, I need to write it down before I forget it. So, the gist of the dream is that Shana's grandfather's brother, who really did die sometime in the last 10 years of cancer (I never met him), was actually killed by David Lee Roth. The way I found this out was that I was on a plane with Grandpa Marty, and Roth was also on the plane, and Marty was like "there's David Lee Roth, he killed my brother" (although he probably didn't say it like that, in a Princess Bride way, it was more just an observation). But he killed him by accident, not on purpose. I can't remember now how it happened, but I think Roth did it when he was only 17, which of course is totally not possible because that would have been in 1970. It was something like involuntary manslaughter. Anyway so I was sitting next to Roth on the plane, and he was telling me about what happened, and I sort of felt bad for him, since it was an accident. And then for some reason I asked him if he had ever seen that YouTube video someone made of just his vocals from Running with the Devil. It doesn't seem to be on YouTube anymore, but I found it on Chunklet if you don't know what I'm talking about: http://www.chunklet.com/index.cfm?section=blogs&ID=313. I don't remember if he said he had seen it or not, unfortunately. Anyway, bizarre dream to say the least. It might have been prompted by my decision to NOT buy Van Halen's debut album on vinyl earlier this week. Maybe my subconcious knew that I should not be supporting the manslaughter-er of my great uncle-in-law, and just waited a few nights to let me in on the secret.

(----) in Russia Vol. 29

You know you're in Russia when there's a guy in a bulletproof vest with a machine gun standing next to a grand piano in a shopping mall.

An ad for a chain of steakhouses in Moscow. "Meat for the price of vegetables."

"Attack! СЫР." сыр = cheese.

Rikk, your boyz say hello.

Ok, the title of this book is "Unique Remedies for Preventing Heart Attacks and Strokes." I think the subtext is talking about enemas. What the photo has to do with this, I don't know. But there's a lot of levels of creepy here. Including the book's prominent display at a kiosk in a very populated metro station.

Vandalism win. This ad in the metro for a brand of cosmetics called "Princessa" says (top right) that Katya here (who has been labeled in blue ink as 30 years old) prefers to use Princessa products. The clever individual with the pen then added below, "And that's exactly why I look so sick!"

5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 6.

Christmas tree fail.

What is supposed to be the meaning of this ad? What conclusions is the reader/viewer supposed to draw? In short, what in the fuck.
