Lost In Russia - The Unofficial Video Appendix

Finn,

The gig is up. I found this video, revealing your secret identity as spiderman. So this is what you've been doing in Russia. How long have you been hiding this. It is a gift. Use it for good. Or for low-budget music videos.

Follow up on Finn...ish band Lordi

The masks came off, and then someone took pictures, and then published them, and now likewise go the gloves.

Here are the controversial photos of Lordi without their costumery.

FINN WINS EUROVISION SONG CONTEST!

Whoops, actually it was the Finnish group Lordi(shown above) who narrowly beat out the Russians to win the contest. Hopefully, there wasn't any sort of similar confusion between our friend and some sore losers.

This Friday: The Sames' Final Show

Here's the word from Zeno and the boys:

"the love triangles, bitter rivalries, artistic differences, drugs, andhead games have finally done in the ill-fated sames. the final strawwas when tim, high as a kite, showed up to practice wearing a grassskirt and punched mas in the groin.we're playing one more show, however, this friday, the 19th, at thecat's cradle in carrboro. it's a free show. and there will be free foodavailable at 8pm, come early to nibble'n'chat.joining us to make music will be some of our favorite bands from thearea, some of the desperados who've played with us, supported us, andhumiliated us during these last five years: the rosebuds, schooner, pleasant, audubon park, north elementary, and the torch marauder. plus, there will be a special appearance by the elusive pox family singers. alittle something for everybody. really, it's just a rock'n'roll partyto celebrate our demise. and david nahm is hosting, so prepare yourselves for plenty of juggling, impersonations, and the typicalbarrage of poorly timed racist jokes.it's free, for christ's sake! and smoke-free, to boot.come say, "sayonara, suckers."thanks for listening.and for making us the #1 party band on the eastern seaboard!"

How will AP play with Finn in Russia and Ben serving a six game suspension? Submit your guess in the comments section.

Grant McLennan, RIP

I've been reading several remembrances today regarding the passing of Grant McLennan of the Go-Between's, from my favorite sports blog to Linc's myspace page. I never was good at keeping track of who sang what with McLennan and Robert Forster, but various obituaries have pointed out that McLennan sang some of my favorites. I first saw the Go-Between's mentioned in a zine by Jim Wilbur, who listed "16 Lovers Lane" in his personal top ten. I ran across a copy of "Liberty Belle and the Black Diamond Express" at a church rummage sale, and quickly fell in love with the song, "Apology Accepted", which was McLennan's. Their albums were then reissued and I found many great songs. I finally got to see them recently at the Cat's Cradle, and the only complaint I can remember, is that they didn't play every song I wanted to hear, but that's only because there were so many.

Fwd:FANS OF GOOD MUSIC, BEWARE!

"DON’T buy the new Springsteen album, it’s a rip-off!

i’m not a big fan of “The Boss”, but i was interested in hearing him attempt a few Seger songs, just to laugh at his weak attempts, but the songs on the record are from some grandpa dude named Seeger. it’s like kiddie music, “froggy-went-a-courtin” and “buffalo gals”, shit like that.

put a Seger sanction on the sales of this motherfucker."

This year's Kentucky Derby Field

1. Brother Derek, $1,114,980: Winner of six of his seven races in California and third in his only loss. Made his only start outside California in last fall's Breeders' Cup Juvenile and finished a distant fourth.
2. Lawyer Ron, $940,800: Dominance in Arkansas preps was reminiscent of Smarty Jones in 2004 and Afleet Alex last year. Has won all seven of his dirt races and lost all seven on grass and the Polytrack surface.
3. Barbaro, $750,000: Undefeated in five starts, but only the last two have been on dirt. Trying to become the first horse to win the Derby off a five-week layoff since Needles in 1956.

HOW TO CONNECT AUDUBON PARK TO THE COUNTRY BEARS IN 3 MOVES

Audubon Park is a band. On his birthday, Stingy Jones sang "Cut Your Hair" with the band at Local 506. Stingy's stepmom's brother is this guy, who was in the film "The Country Bears" as a stuntman. That's basically like three degrees, though I'm sure Kalb can give us a more precise ruling.
